Summer Programs
Tinkerhaus is offering several weeklong programs for young makers this summer. Registration opens Monday, February 2. Mark your calendar!
Note: Full-day programs require a peanut free snack and lunch as well as a water bottle. Children should dress for the weather and for getting messy. We will be outdoors daily and they will need shoes that cover their toes.

June 22-26 - 9 am-2 pm
Age 6 +
Join our happy crew of nature makers, building gnome homes, printing with leaves and flowers, sketching maps of magical lands, writing with feathers and berry ink, crafting lanterns and lanyards!
June 29-July 3 - 9 am-2 pm
Age 6+
Starting with an unfinished wooden house, designers will sand, paint, wallpaper, furnish and drape the building of their dreams. It could be a ski house, a dance studio or an animal shelter, whatever the designer wants. Cost includes the dollhouse.
July 6-10 - 9 am-2 pm
Age 7+
Clay, Paper Mache, Painting, Printing and Tie Dye! Try one of these each day as well as small personal projects like beading, working with yarn and thread and some silly surprises, too!
July 13-17 - 9 am-2 pm
Age 11+
Young designers will take on a challenge to create an outfit with materials and tools provided. Lots of help will be given in mastering patterns and the sewing machine. Designers should be familiar with measuring tape, good with scissors and know basic sewing. Students will receive a pre-planning kit and there will be a fashion show at the end. Cost includes materials.
July 20-24 - 9 am-2 pm
Age 9+
Create 3-dimensional art using a variety of materials, standard and outside the box; clay, wire, wood, pool noodles, paper mache, balloons, fabric. Visiting artists on several days will inspire our sculptors’ creative process.
August 3-7 - 9 am-2 pm
Age 6+
Start with a wooden castle and some peg figures to create your fantasy. Learn about life in a castle, build a mini catapult and trebuchet, make a coat of arms, a royal decree made with quill pens and sealing wax. Cost includes castle.
August 10-14 - Half Day Session - 9 am-12 pm
Age 11+
Young woodworkers learn to design clever boxes in beautiful hardwood, incorporating shape, joinery, doors and drawers and maybe secret compartments. Careful use of real tools and serious safety training.
August 10-14 - Half Day Session - 1 pm-4 pm
Age 13+
Young woodworkers learn to design clever boxes in beautiful hardwood, incorporating shape, joinery, doors and drawers and maybe secret compartments. Careful use of real tools and serious safety training.
August 17-21 - 9 am-2 pm
Age 7+
Learn about the ocean and Newburyport’s connection to it. Do some ocean inspired art projects, visit the waterfront on walking field trips down the rail trail and host visitors from the deep.
